From Death to Life: How God Rescued Jacqui Strothoff from Heroin Addiction and Despair

Jacqui Strothoff's testimony

Jacqui Strothoff, Director of the Women’s Homes in Teen Challenge New England, was the Keynote Speaker at the 2014 “Dinner at the Dunes” Gala and Fundraiser held in Narragansett, RI.

Jacqui’s life before Christ led her down a road marked by poor choices that eventually culminated in heroin addiction. She suffered the horror of the tragic death of her own brother after she injected him with heroin — his very first experience with the drug. As Jacqui’s life spiraled out of control, her mother lost all hope and finally washed her hands of her daughter to cope with her own despair.

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.” Matthew 7:17 (New American Standard Bible)

God had other plans for Jacqui.

Her story, shared at our Gala to an audience hungry for hope, illustrated the reason House of Hope Rhode Island exists. We know that young people who are lost, hurting, and in bondage are desperately in need of the life-giving, life-transforming resurrection power found in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

“A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.” John 10:10 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Watch the dramatic retelling of Jacqui’s harrowing descent into darkness followed by God’s ultimate triumph — deliverance and resurrection from death into life, into the abundant life found in Jesus Christ.
